The sophs got off to a rough start at the Niles North Thanksgiving Tournament against the host Vikings. Trailing 24 to 6 in the second, with 17 turnovers, it didn't look good for the Skyhawks, but a great comeback ensued and next thing you know, we're in overtime and then another. The Skyhawks finally couldn't force a third overtime and lost 67-61.
The Hawks went to the line an amazing 51 times and made 30. Kelsey Stefka and Megan Landazzi each were 10 for 12 from the line and Kayla Toussaint was 4 for 5, including making 2 with seconds to go to force another overtime.
Maddie Himpelman had 9 steals in the game, 6 deflections (Coach Frey's favorite stat), 4 assists and had NO turnovers. Kelsey Stefka led with 7 rebounds, with Quiara Lawyer ripping down 5 rebounds. Michaela Kopystynsky had the Skyhawks only block.
Bus time on Saturday is 2PM.
