JHS vs. Woodstock North - Friday, February 11, 2011

JHS 35
Woodstock North 27

On a very special evening at Johnsburg High School, not only was it senior night, but it was also Emily Pierce's last basketball game ever, the sophs jumped out to a 20 to 9 halftime lead.  The Thunder cut the lead to 27-26, but the resilient Skyhawks hung on for the victory.  The sophs finished the season at 13-14, 5-7 in the Fox Valley Conference for a 4th place finish.  Kayla Toussaint led the way with 11 points, Maycie Ward added 6.

JHS vs. Crystal Lake Central - Friday, February 4, 2011

JHS 24
Crystal Lake Central 21

The sophs hadn't played a game in a week and hadn't picked up a basketball since Monday, but they still managed to hold off the Tigers 24 to 21 on Friday night at Johnsburg High School.  Despite shooting poorly, getting out rebounded and turning the ball over a few too many times, the Hawks made their free throws when it counted and were cool under pressure in the last two minutes of the game to squeak out the victory.  Megan Landazzi led the Hawks with 8 points, Quiara Lawyer had a couple of blocked shots and picked up a charge to help the Skyhawks move their record to 12-13 and 4-7 in the Fox Valley.

Practice on Monday is after school until 4:30.
Tuesday's game is at Huntley - Bus time is 4
Wednesday and Thursday's practice time will be announced.

The Skyhawks jumped out to an 8 point halftime lead behind some very aggressive defense.  The girls lead was cut to two at the end of the third quarter and then Grayslake erupted for 14 points in the fourth to beat the young Lady Hawks by 4.  Megan Landazzi scored all of her 12 points in the first half, Kayla Toussaint added 8, with Maddie Himpelmann and Abbie Ullrich each scoring 6.  The Skyhawks are now 11-13 on the season and 3-7 in the Fox Valley Conference.

JHS vs. Woodstock - Tuesday, January 18, 2011

JHS 45
Woodstock 31

It ended up being a modest 14 point victory, but the game was never really that close.  The Skyhawks played great defense, made a bunch of free throws and rebounded well in their victory.  Holding the Blue Streaks to just 8 points at halftime and then running out to a 42 to 17 3rd quarter lead, the Hawks played one on their best games of the year.  Megan Landazzi led the way with 11 points, Kayla Toussaint added 10.  Michaela Kopystynsky was 4 for 5 from the free throw line and raised her FT percentage by 10%.
