JHS vs. Woodstock - Saturday, December 11, 2010

Woodstock 41
JHS 39

It was back and forth most of the night.  The Hawks turned the ball over 6 times in the first quarter and Woodstock capitalized on each one, scoring 12 points off of the turnovers.  Another bucket gave the Streaks a 14 to 5 lead in the first 4 minutes, but by the end of the quarter, Johnsburg had scored 11 straight to lead 16 to 14. Woodstock and Johnsburg traded leads for the next 2 quarters.  The Streaks led by 5 points twice in the fourth, including with a minute to go, but the sophs battled, chipped away, played aggressive defense and had gave themselves the opportunity to win the game with 3 seconds left.  After running a perfect inbounds play, Kayla Toussaint's 3 pointer, just missed and the Skyhawks dropped to 4 - 7.

Quiara Lawyer had 10 rebounds and 5 blocked shots.
Michaela Kopystynsky and Maddie Himpelmann led the Hawks with 2 assists.
Maddie also had 5 steals and 5 deflections.
Kayla Toussaint dropped in a career high 16 points.

Thanks to Bill Kerpan for being in attendance at tonight's game.  It was great seeing you.

JHS vs. Crystal Lake South - Tuesday, December 7, 2010

Crystal Lake South 34
JHS 25

It looked like there was a lid on the basket for most of Tuesday's game for the Skyhawks, when they finally got it off in the fourth quarter it was a little too late as the Gators defeated our Skyhawks 34 to 25 at Gator Alley.  The Skyhawks were only able to make 1 basket in the entire first half and found themselves down 20 to 8 at halftime.  Great defense, including a much improved press, kept the Skyhawks within striking distance and the Skyhawks cut the lead to 7 with under a minute to go, but CLS hung on for the victory.

The Skyhawks were a perfect 10 for 10 from the free throw line.

Next in line for Skyhawks, the very tough Grayslake North Knights on Wednesday at Johnsburg High School.

JHS vs. Prairie Ridge - Friday, December 3, 2010

Prairie Ridge 48
JHS 24

The Skyhawks found themselves down 9 to 1 early on in Friday's contest, but a great offensive burst combined with some pretty good defense had the Hawks in the locker room at halftime with a two point lead.  Prairie Ridge got hot in the 3rd quarter and scored 21 points to take command of the game.  The sophs could only scratch out 1 basket in the 4th quarter and lost to the Wolves 48 to 24.

Quiara Lawyer ripped down 8 rebounds for the Skyhawks.  Maddie Himpelmann led the way with 3 steals and Megan Landazzi had 8 points.
