Huntley 26

The Skyhawks beat their chief rival for a Fox Valley Conference Championship on Saturday, 39 - 26. An impressive victory by the Hawks considering they took 1 shot during the 1st quarter (technically Alexis Wisniewski took 4 shots, but was fouled on 3 of them. Their official shots for quarter 1 was 0 out of 1) and had 16 turnovers in the first half. What won the game for the sophs was shutting out Huntley for the last 3 minutes of the first quarter, all of the second quarter and the first 3 minutes of the 3rd quarter. An impressive defensive display!

The Hawks ended up shooting 42% for the game from the field and 64% from the line. 31 total rebounds was about 4 under their average and 27 turnovers was a little more than normal.

Alexis Wisniewski led the Skyhawks with 10 points and 7 rebounds.

Elly Nusser had 6 points and 5 rebounds.

Chandler Sommerfeldt scored her 4 points in the 4th quarter to help seal the victory. She added 2 rebounds, 2 assists and 3 steals.

Elizabeth Janik had 2 rebounds and 2 steals in the 2nd quarter. Her stellar defense was a big reason the Hawks shut out the Red Raiders for almost 2 periods.

JHS Soph Girls vs. Dundee Crown - Friday, January 5

JHS 56 ***Double Overtime***
Dundee Crown 47

Where do we start with this one? It was nice having Heather Miller back in the lineup. Pretty good stats in her return. 19 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists and 8 steals before fouling out in the second overtime. Two overtimes, wow, this was a fun game. The Hawks and the Chargers played pretty even for 4 quarters. The Skyhawks had a 5 point lead in the first half and the Chargers had a 7 point lead in the 4th. Down 7 with 4 minutes to go, the soph girls turned up the defense and made an impressive run. Heather Miller's 7 fourth quarter points got the Hawks back in the game. Amanda Daly and Chandler Sommerfeldt both missed game winners with less than 5 seconds left in regulation.

Not much scoring in the first overtime as both teams scored 6 points each. The Hawks got a great look at the end of the first overtime, but the shot wouldn't fall and both teams headed to the second overtime.

The Hawks must have been tired of playing because they took it to Dundee in the second overtime, scoring 16 points (1 less than they scored in the first half or the second half.) Alexis Wisniewski had 7 points in overtime to seal the victory.

Some pretty impressive numbers by the sophomore Skyhawks.

Along with Heather Miller's big game

Courtney Bielis had 13 points, 5 rebounds, 6 assists and 3 steals.

Amanda Daly had 10 points, 3 rebounds and 6 steals (all in overtime)

Alexis Wisniewski had 7 points (all in overtime), 8 rebounds and 2 steals

Chandler Sommerfeldt had 2 rebounds and 4 assists

Elly Nusser had a steal and 9 rebounds.

The Hawks forced DC into 30 turnovers, including 23 steals and ripped down 39 rebounds. The 56 points scored is the most by a sophomore team in 7 years.
