The sophomore Skyhawks lead the host Vikings 8 to 7 in the first quarter and then went on a 34 to 4 run to win their last game of the Niles North Thanksgiving Tournament.

Morgan Berge, Haley Stark and Ashley Schuld all scored 8 points in the victory.
Elena Riska pulled down 7 rebounds.
Tayelor Neiss led the way with 4 assists.
Genna Gallina and Morgan Berge each had 4 steals.
Nicole Grant had 2 block shots.
and in Coach Frey's favorite stat, Morgan Berge deflected 4 passes.

Every Skyhawk player had at least 1 rebound.

JHS vs. Resurrection - Friday, November 27, 2009

The sophs battled back against Resurrection and took the lead in the 3rd quarter, but poor foul shooting (12-28) plagued the young Hawks again this season and they dropped their 3rd game of the Niles North Thanksgiving Tournament.

The sophomores finish up the tournament Saturday against host Niles North at 4 PM. Bus time is 2.

The Skyhawks ran out to a 20 to nuthin' lead and cruised to the easy victory against Wheeling on Tuesday.

Ashley Schuld and Morgan Berge dropped in 6 points to lead the Hawks.
Claire Rodgers had 9 rebounds.
Morgan Berge dished out 4 assists.
Sam Medrano and TayElor Neiss were the leading thieves with 2 steals each.
Genna Gallina and Morgan Berge had 3 deflections apiece.

JHS vs. Proviso East - Saturday, November 21, 2009

The sophomore Hawks almost pulled off a great comeback against the Pirates of Proviso East. Trailing most of the game, the Skyhawks took the game into overtime before falling by 2 points.

Ashley Schuld scored 18 points and added 8 rebounds, while Haley Stark added 9 points and 3 steals.
Morgan Berge led the way with 3 assists.

The Hawks committed only 15 turnovers but only shot 9 out of 29 from the free throw line. Proviso East was 16 for 23 from the line and that edge led the Pirates to victory.



Remember - please be a school by 10:30 to watch our game films. Practice will start after that and we will be done by 1PM

The bus time for Tuesday's game is now 4PM (not 3:30.)

JHS vs. Fenwick - Friday, November 20, 2009

The Skyhawks kicked off their season on Friday against the always tough Fenwick Friars. Staying even for most of the first quarter, Fenwick's swarming defense took its toll on the young Hawks, forcing them into too many turnovers, 32 for the game. The sophs also shot 4 - 15 from the free throw line for 26.7%.

Haley Stark and Nicole Grant led the Hawks with 9 points each.
Ashley Schuld led the Hawks with 12 rebounds.
Morgan Berge had 3 assists.
Tayelor Neiss led the way with three steals.

The sophs will play their second game in the Niles North Thanksgiving Tournament on Saturday at 4 PM. Bus time is 2PM, bring both uniforms.

The 2009 - 2010 Season Has Begun!

The sophomore girls started their season last night with a 23 minute practice due to the blackout in the school.

Practice this week will be from 2:30 to 4:45 Monday through Friday and 9 to 11 on Saturday morning.

Shoes are in! Once they are paid for, you may pick them up.
